Who's Who at Rio Grande

As a participative management company, Rio Grande does not need a corporate hierarchy. As a result, our organizational structure is very flat. There are three types of associates at Rio Grande:

Directors

Seven directors—the Board of Directors for the corporation—run Rio Grande as a team. As active participants in the business, they are each responsible for specific functional areas and are responsible for setting strategy and the pace for company growth. Directors also serve as a resource to all associates and ensure the company is meeting the needs of all stakeholders.

Coaches

Nineteen Coaches provide the training, guidance and inspiration to help associates become participative managers. Coaches function in a variety of areas including business-team coaching and special resource areas such as safety, quality and training.
Each business-team coach is responsible for 2-10 teams, each consisting of 3-10 people. As teams mature, the coaching role evolves from a structuring role to a facilitative role. Training coaches design curricula, analyze best-practices with teams for continuous improvement, and work with mentors to provide specialized training in various functional areas. Special resource coaches are responsible for providing coaches and teams with the specific information they need to conduct high-quality work
in the safest, most effective manner possible.

Associates

Everyone at Rio Grande is an associate. There are about 400 of us. As partners and teammates, we share the responsibilities,
the challenges, the joys and the rewards of leading our company-and serving our customers-well into the future.
