Rio Grande is seeking a controller to join our accounting team. This person plans, organizes, directs and controls the financial affairs of the company and safeguards all corporate assets.
- Maintain the system of accounts, keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets, and prepares financial statements and analysis.
- Supervise internal control, policies and procedures according to established audit procedures.
- Supervise budget preparation for the entire company.
- Audit business activities to make sure they comply with federal, state and local regulations.
- Reviews federal, state and local forms for internal accounting and auditing purposes.
- Supervises the reconciliation of the general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
- Maintains a high-level job expertise by attending seminars, participating in professional societies and reading pertinent publications.
- Interacts with MIS to coordinate accounting and management information systems.
- Forecasting, including capital planning and cash flow.
Minimum 10 years accounting and finance experience with five years at management level. Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems, well-developed financial analysis capabilities and demonstrated ability to manage micro-computer operations and applications in finance are essential. Must have sound administrative skills and the ability to train and motivate. Strong analytical and reasoning abilities and superior numeric skills are a must. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. An MBA/CPA is preferred.
